The SFM Foldmaster Standard has special strength in its reliability for high performance folding-up to 1400 sheets per hour. Air blast folding in the length folds, and mechanical blades in the cross fold, work to ensure precision in the folding process.
Consequently, the typical range of application are the high speed ironer lines for large pieces. Nevertheless, it is also possible to fold small pieces.
Modern textiles and washing technologies can cause static charges which can badly disrupt the operation of the ironer line. To avoid such trouble, there is special equipment including conductive transport belts, conductive coating of all rollers and plates with central grounding.
Length Folds
Before each folding process, the items are able to hand free which is a pre-condition for an exact folding process.
The linen is always guided between pairs of belts. The upper and lower belts are driven, both run with the same speed, in order to avoid any discrepancies and waves in the linen.
In front of the length fold section the pieces are measured. With a measuring wheel in front of the first folded section and with a photo cell in front of the next section.
The computer calculates the exact point of time form folding according to the required amount of overlapping. All fold sections are well accessible despite the compact construction.
The advantages fo the air stream folding process of the latest technical generation are the high reaction rate, the precise steerability, the omission of wear and tear parts and the multi-lane technology without tearing locking mechanism.
Cross Folds
As the pieces to be folded are naturally thicker during the cross folding process than in the length fold section, mechanical folding blades are used for the cross folds.
In the first cross fold, a blade pushes the item between two movable rollers with easily adjust themselves to very thick as well as very thin items. The second cross fold is also performed by folding blade as standard version. The third cross fold section is always a combination of folding blade and reverse fold.
The cross fold sections work like pinch devices so that a good fixing and smoothening of the folding edges and the fold itself is guaranteed.
